Check out this video I found on YouTube.  It is about how educators can integrate information literacy skills and technology skills in to the existing curriculum.  The video suggests this to be done through the help of your library media specialist.  It really made me stop and think!

Questions to ponder:

  • Do you think that this should only be done by your library media specialist?
  • How did  all the facts presented in this video make you feel about the way our education system today and where it is going?
  • What other Web 2.0 sources do you know of and/or use on a daily basis?  How have these tools helped you as an educator?

Welcome and Hello to my first blog!

My name is Christine Strickland.  I am in my third year of teaching second grade at Hillcrest Elementary in Enterprise, AL.  I am married to a wonderful man named Jeremy.  We will welcome our first child come August 5th.  We will find out April 5th whether we will be welcoming a boy or a girl to our family.  I am taking my last class at the University of West Alabama were I will be graduating in May with my masters in Library Media.  I wanted to get my degree in Library Media because I wanted to have a way out of the classroom, but that would still let me work with children.  I love technology and children's books, so Library Media was the perfect fit for me! I chose to get my degree online because the local colleges around me did not have the degree I wanted.  My favorite piece of technology is my SMARTboard and projector that I got at the end of last school year.  It makes my job of teaching so much easier and allows me to expand my classroom beyond the four walls that enclose my students and I each day.
